MARION K PINSON, DDS
Dr. Pinson graduated in the top 1% of her class in 1982 from Howard University College of Dentistry. After serving seven years as a general dentist she was compelled to broaden her career to the field of periodontics because she had seen far too many patients losing their teeth due to periodontal disease. She completed her Post Doctoral studies at the Medical College of Georgia in 1991 and chose to stay in the Augusta area after graduation and open her private practice. Several of the patients she saw during her residency are still active in her private practice.

WHAT IS A PERIODONTIST?
What is a periodontist? Periodontists are dental specialists who have chosen to limit their practice to the treatment of periodontal disease. Dr. Pinson has completed extensive, rigorous post-doctoral education and training that focused on the gums and the other soft tissues that surround and support the teeth. Her training allows her to offer several options for treating periodontal disease, including surgical and non-surgical therapy. Periodontal disease is known as the "silent disease." It is very important to seek professional attention if any of the signs are present. Major damage can occur to the gums and surrounding bone by disease-causing bacteria if left untreated.
